NOTICE TO FREEHOLD BOROUGH RESIDENTS
REGARDING ABOVE-GROUND SWIMMING POOLS
 Any above-ground pool deeper than 24 inches requires construction permits consisting of building and electrical permits.  Proper protection of the pool, which may include fencing, is required pursuant to the Uniform Commercial Code.  Resident should contact the Code office at 732 462-4903 or come in to 51 West Main St. if they have any questions.
 
1. Complete application.
2. Survey of property.
3. Inground - sealed specifications of the pool.
4. Above ground - brochure on the pool.
5. Brochures on: pool, filter, pump, heater (if being installed).
6. Electrical wiring diagram and gas piping diagram.
7. Copy of estimate or a list of materials and total cost.
8. Pool certification, which must be notarized stating that you will not use the pool until all final inspections are performed by the Construction Department.
9. Payment of permit application fee.
 

Heating/AC Systems
Permit Application Requirements
 
1. Complete application.
2. Copy of estimate or a list of materials and total cost.
3. Brochure on heating or AC unit.
4. Diagram of electrical wiring or gas piping.
5. Indicate where unit will be installed; attic, basement, utility room, etc.
6. All new heating units must have chimney certification form completed.
7. Payment of permit application fee.
 
Interior Alterations - Residential
Permit Application Requirements
 
1. Complete application.
2. Copy of estimate or a list of materials and total cost.
3. Detailed plans of project signed and sealed by licensed architect or engineer. Homeowner is permitted to draw and sign their own plans.
4. Electrical wiring diagram or gas piping are required if included in the work.
5. Payment of permit application fee.
 
 
Interior Alterations - Commercial
Permit Application Requirements
 
1. Complete application.
2. Copy of estimate or a list of materials and total cost.
3. Detailed plans of project signed and sealed by licensed architect or engineer.
4. Electrical wiring diagram or gas piping are required if included in the work.
5. If the business is a food establishment, applicant must obtainHealth Department approval prior to the     permit application approval.
6. A zoning application must be filed with the Zoning Officer at the time of permit application.
7. Payment of permit application fee.
 
 
Additions - Residential
Permit Application Requirements
 
1. Complete application.
2. Copy of estimate or a list of materials and total cost.
3. Detailed plans of project signed and sealed by licensed architect or engineer. Homeowner is permitted to draw and sign their own plans.
4. Electrical wiring diagram or gas piping diagram are required.
5. Any homes on septic who are adding a kitchen, bathroom or bedroom area must receive approval from the Health Department.
       6. Additions indicating additional living space, such as bedroom, kitchen and bath must complete an affidavit stating the addition will be used for family space and not for rental to the general public.
7. Payment of permit application fee.
 
 
Additions - Commercial
Permit Application Requirements
 
1. Prior Planning Board/Zoning Board approval.
2. Complete application.
3. Copy of survey.
4. Plans signed and sealed by licensed architect or engineer.
 5. Copy of estimate or proposal.
6. If the business is a food establishment, applicant must obtain Health Department approval prior to the permit application approval.
7. Electrical wiring diagram or gas piping diagram are required.
8. Payment of permit application fee.
 
 
New Single Family Dwelling
Permit Application Requirements
 
1. Prior Planning Board/Zoning Board approval.
2. Complete application.
3. Two sets of plans signed and sealed by a licensed architect or engineer.
4. Plans must contain a radon mitigation system.
5. If well and septic system is to be installed, application must be submitted to the Health Department at the time of permit submission.
6. Survey of the property.
7. Payment of permit application fee.
 
 
New Construction - Commercial
Permit Application Requirements
 
1. Prior Planning/Zoning Board approval.
2. Complete application.
3. Two sets of plans signed and sealed by a licensed architect
or engineer.
4. Survey of the property.
5. If business is a food establishment, Health Department
        approval is required.
6. Engineering Department approval prior to building permit issuance.
7. Freehold Soil Conservation approval.
 8 Zoning permit application must be submitted to the ZoningOfficer.
10. Payment of permit application fee.
