Freehold Borough is governed by six council members and a mayor. Council members are elected for a three year term and the mayor is elected for a four year term. The governing body is empowered to adopt local ordinances and pass resolutions. The governing body conducts all of its business during monthly meetings open to the public.

Council Meetings, Agendas and Minutes
Regular Council Meetings are scheduled for 7: 00 pm. in Council chambers on the first Monday of the month. The agenda is available for public inspection before each Council meeting. The minutes are available to the public following approval by Mayor and Council.
RESOLUTION PROVIDING NOTICE OF THE 2014 MEETINGS OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF FREEHOLD
BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Freehold thatthe Council Meetings for the Year 2014 shall be held at 7:00 p.m. as follows:

At these meetings., formal action will be taken upon any and all business of the Borough:
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Agenda Review and Executive Sessions of the Mayor and Council will be held thirty minutes prior to the start of each council meeting.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Reorganization Meeting shall be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 1:00 P.M.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all meetings of the Mayor and Council will be held on the top floor of Borough Hall at 51 West Main- St., Freehold, New Jersey.
